Yoga may seem not the hardest workout. It does not build muscles like weight lifting does, does not burn calories as running does…

With all that being said, yoga is not the easiest workout which makes it great exercise to burn calories.

The amount of yoga calories burned depends on the types of exercises performed and the person doing yoga herself / himself. The number of calories burned depends on the persons body, their cardio and muscular level, the intensity of postures, and the length of the yoga class.

Bikram or Hot Yoga is a very strenuous yoga that burns the most calories Bikram yoga also known as hot yoga. Class performed in 105 degrees heated room with 40 percent of humidity. That means that you will sweat in this yoga class trying to perform the 26 postures. One hour class of hot yoga burns 630 calories of the same as swimming hard for the whole hour!
